Ebb and Flow

Along the Seward Highway in Alaska, glacial melt and run-off become part of the ceaseless tidal ebb and flow near the Gulf of Alaska south of Anchorage. On one side of the Highway is the shoreline and mudflats of Turnagain Arm, depicted in this photo, and on the other are the rugged Chugach Mountains. The incredible tides of Turnagain Arm are the largest in the US, and, although it was still on this day, there can be very high winds.
