Mysterious
Viewed from a distance, Costa Rica’s mysterious Monteverde Cloud Forest is mysterious. It sits on a thin strip of land that divides the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean known as the Great Divide. In this forest, low-hanging clouds, often in the form of fog, hover around the upper forest canopy before condensing onto tree leaves and dripping onto plants below. The Monteverde Cloud Forest is home to more than 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, and 1,200 species of amphibians and reptiles.
